How Clients Can Auto Login to DeskDirector Web Easily

Published on: | Updated on:

Here at DeskDirector we've long known that making it easy for end users to log into a portal is paramount. If you make it hard, then usage will suffer, that's why we try hard to avoid this.

With this in mind in this One Minute Wednesday we explore a brand new way you can have your clients log right into DeskDirector from the emails you send them.

Not only that, they could be taken right to a ticket.

Check out the video and head here to learn more about setting up URL linking.

Hi, and welcome to another One Minute Wednesday. Now, here at DeskDirector we realize that making it as easy as possible for your clients to log in the portal is essential to allowing them to adopt and use it. So with that in mind, we launched a brand new feature for DeskDirector Web. Now, with DeskDirector Web you’ll be able to include a link on the emails coming out of your PSA that not only takes them to DeskDirector, but logs them in automatically. That can be for emails coming out when tickets get updated, or even just an email you sent to them, giving them access to DeskDirector, making it super easy for them to log in. Let’s take a look at how we might set that up. To have DeskDirector Web open automatically, all you need to do is add this URL https://[your DeskDirector server URL]?username=[contactemail]&password=[customerportalpassword] to emails coming out of ConnectWise. Now, this might look a little scary, but it’s pretty simple really. The first section is your DeskDirector server URL, then username equals contact email, which will be replaced with the user’s email address and password equals, their portal password for ConnectWise. If you want to send them to a specific ticket, all you need to do is add &ticketed=[srnumber] and the ticket number to the end of that. Now, we think that will make a really big difference on the ease with which you can give clients access to DeskDirector, but we’d love to see what you think as well. Let us know what you think about this feature, and as always, if you want to know more about how to set it up, head over to kb.deskdirector.com. Have an awesome week and we’ll see you next time. Bye for now!
